Morency Named to 2nd Team; Rewrites the Record Books

Boston, MA - Sophomore goalkeeper Deanna Morency was awarded All-American Mideast Conference 2nd Team honors; it was announced today by the Commissioner's office.

Despite playing only eight games in goal for Falcons due to injury, Morency was able to set a school record with 140 saves on the season.  Deanna finished the regular season ranked 12th in NAIA Division I in total saves.

This is the first time a Fisher College student-athlete has received All-Conference honors in the American Mideast Conference.  Before this season Fisher College had competed in the Sunrise Conference.  Fisher College was also selected as the Fair Play Team Award recipient.

Lindsay Miller, who helped lead Daemen to its first-ever conference women's soccer title, has been selected the AMC Player of the Year for 2011.

Miller, a senior midfielder from Pocono Lake, Pa., sparked the Lady Wildcats to an overall record of 15-4 and an AMC mark of 11-1. She was joined on the 11-member first team by sophomore forward Sam Engel.

Perennial power Houghton landed five players on the top squad. The list includes Keeler Topping, Katie-Jean Vandzura, Rachel Cross, Jennifer Hudson, and Alyssa Figueroa.

The rest of the group features Jillian Zanney and Molly Martin of Walsh as well as Ashley Drenth and Jackie Corbett of Roberts Wesleyan.

Daemen's Dan Dolan was voted Coach of the Year while Houghton's Kathryn Hornibrook is the Freshman of the Year.
