UMPI Completes Season Sweep of Fisher on Senior Day

The University of Maine- Presque Isle Owls completed the season sweep of Fisher College Saturday afternoon at Lawrence Memorial Stadium. Two weeks ago the Falcons fell to UMPI 14-0 but this time around the scorer was a lot closer. In what could be said was their best game of the season, the Falcons lost 3-0 on the day.

UMPI's Chelsea Beauchemin (Fr./Adams, MA) scored two goals for the Owls, Desiree Smith (Sr./Thomaston, ME) had UMPI's other tally.  Fisher's senior goalkeeper Amanda Davis (Dos Palos, CA/ Merced College) recorded 34 saves on the day, raising her season total to 94, good for 34th in the nation.

The majority of UMPI's scoring chances game from distance as the defense of Fisher was solid throughout the contest.  Led by Senior Katherine Ernest (Blackstone, MA/Blackstone-Millville) and Sophomore Deanna Morency (Auburn, ME/ Edward Little) the Falcons defense did a tremendous job limiting the Owl's scoring chances.

Prior to the game seniors Amanda Davis and Katherine Ernest were honored for their contributions to the program. This season was Amanda Davis first year with the program where she started all 12 games and tallied one goal and recorded 94 saves so far on the season. Senior Katherine Ernest is one of two players in the school's history to complete four years with the soccer program. The four year captain has started every game for the Falcons since her arrival on campus.

With the loss the Falcons fall to 0-12 on the season.  They will return to action this upcoming weekend when the travel to upstate New York to take on American Mideast Conference rivals Houghton College and Daemen College. The first game of the road trip is scheduled for Friday night at Houghton College with a 5pm kick-off.
