Pittsburgh, PA - Following the women's loss to Point Park, The Point Park University men's soccer team shutout Fisher College 8-0 Sunday at Founders Field, handing the Falcons their seventh consecutive defeat of the season.
For Point Park (6-2, 2-1 AMC), it was the second shutout in as many days over winless Fisher (0-7, 0-6 AMC). The new American Mideast Conference members lost at Point Park, 6-0, Saturday night.
Point Park led Fisher, 5-0, at halftime Sunday. Francis Tabi got the scoring started in the 8th minute, and Lucas Silva and Matt Annecchiarico each scored two goals before the break.
Jack Pilkinton scored the first goal of his Point Park career early in the second half. Miguel Alvarez and Andrew Wellman also added goals before the game was through.
Alvarez had a goal and an assist, and also getting helpers were Anthony Russo, Brett Gwosden, Wendelin Hobel, and Max Kovalchuck.
Point Park's sophomore goalkeeper Mitchell Kelman went the distance with four saves. It was the fourth time that he earned a shutout. Fisher College's junior goalkeeper John Del Valle (Stoughton, MA/ Massasoit CC) recorded 10 saves.
Point Park held a 28-9 advantage in shots.
The Falcons will return to action Wednesday as they travel to Bethpage, NY for a non-conference match up with Briarcliffe College. Fisher's next home game is Saturday, October 1st at 3pm versus Houghton College. The game is the second of a men's and women's doubleheader.
