Boston, MA - Brian Cole and the Vermont Technical College Knights took down the Fisher Falcons in non-conference action 3 – 1 yesterday afternoon. Cole scored the first two goals of the game at East Boston Memorial Park that proved to be enough against an undermanned Falcons squad.
Despite playing with only nine men for the entire contest, Fisher controlled the run of play throughout the first half and most of the second. After trailing 2–0 halfway through the first half, junior Ray Kadzashie scored Fisher's first goal of the season off a corner kick from sophomore Cam Pilger. Pilger played a long dropping ball to the back post where Kadzashie out jumped his defender to find the back of the net. The goal was Kadzashie's first as a Falcon.
Trailing 2-1 at the break, the Falcons came out flying to start the second half. An early chance for Gary Maldonado proved costly as it would have tied the game up with nearly 35 minutes to play.
Despite Fisher's best attacking efforts, goalkeeper Zach Fortuna and Vermont Tech were able clinch the victory when Brian Cole finished off his hat trick in the dying seconds of the game. The final goal came at a time when Fisher was throwing every man forward in an attempt to find an equalizer.
Vermont Tech's keep, Fortuna finished the evening with 24 saves just edging Fisher's John Del Valle who finished with 23 saves. The Falcons return to action this weekend when they travel to former Sunrise Conference rival University of Maine – Presque Isle for a Saturday afternoon contest. Kickoff is scheduled for 3pm.
