David Lindberg is entering his seventh full season as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Fisher College. As a coach, he has worked to establish an up-tempo system built around “well rounded” players. Since arriving at Fisher College, Lindberg has guided the Falcons to four Sunrise Conference Championships, as well as back-to-back trips to the NAIA National Tournament. Lindberg began his college coaching career as an Assistant Coach at Fisher College before taking over the program halfway through the 2005-06 campaign.
During his six plus years at the helm, he has led the Falcons to an overall record of 108-96 (.530). Lindberg has had the opportunity to coach three Sunrise Conference Most Valuable Players, eight First Team Sunrise Conference players, one Second Team Sunrise Conference player, one American Mideast Second Team Player, one NAIA Academic All-American, as well as one Sunrise Conference Rookie of the year. In 2011-12, Fisher College also had the Nation’s Leader in Rebounding (Dennis Norford). Coach Lindberg has also had the pleasure of coaching six 1,000 point scores in his time on the bench (Louis Williams, Mike Newcombe, Steven Perry, Stephen Rice, Casey Pursell and Dennis Norford).
Prior to coming to Fisher, Lindberg was a Media Relations intern with the San Antonio Spurs of the NBA. While in San Antonio, Lindberg also had the opportunity to coach in the Spurs Drug-Free Basketball League, a youth program for inner city teenagers. In the off season Coach Lindberg has had the opportunity to speak at Basketball Clinics throughout the northeast and his teams have taken part in the Nike Championship Basketball Clinics as on the floor demonstrators.
Lindberg led the Falcons to back-to-back 20 win seasons (22 in 2008-09 and 25 in 2009-10), the only two in the programs history. During the 2009-10 campaign the Falcons strung together a nation best 20 game winning streak.
A native of Ellsworth, Maine, Lindberg has been around the game all of his life. His father, Bruce Lindberg, was a 4-time Maine State Coach of the Year. After a post-graduate year at New Hampton Prep, Lindberg attended Norwich University where he was a member of the basketball team. Lindberg earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a minor in English Literature from Colby-Sawyer College. He earned a Masters of Education in Athletic Administration from Endicott College in May of 2011. Coach Lindberg also serves as the Associate Director of Admissions and resides on the North Shore of Massachusetts with his wife Tina.
