GWINNETT, GA. – The Continental Athletic Conference announced earlier today their inaugural All-Conference teams for Volleyball and a trio of Fisher College Falcons were honored for their efforts this fall. Senior Lia Aime (Las Piedras, Puerto Rico), Junior Macy Barnes (Duart, Calif.) and freshman Paola Velazquez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) all saw their names called across the two All-Conference teams.
Barnes was selected to the All-Conference First team after a tremendous season for the blue-and-white. The outside hitter and co-captain led the team with 367 kills and a 4.48 kills per set average. Barnes also played in all 82 sets for the Falcons and totaled 301 digs along with 19 total blocks. The Mount San Antonio (junior) College transfer was also named the CAC Attacker of the Week twice this season and helped led the team to a 15-9 overall record.
Aime was named to the All-Conference Second Team after guided the team as the primary libero. The first four-year student-athlete in program history, Aime saved her best for last as she scooped up 417 digs over her 82 sets played, good for a 5.09 digs per set average. She also hammered down 18 service aces and dished out 39 assists on the season. She finishes her career becoming the only member of the 1,000 dig club with 1,078 career digs and her 417 digs this year sets the program record for digs in a season.
Velazquez made a name for herself as she exploded onto the college volleyball scene as the team's primary setter. The rookie was named to the All-Conference Second Team after recording 716 assists while playing in all 82 sets for a 8.73 assists per set average. She was named the CAC Setter of the Week twice this past fall while compiling 174 digs and 36 service aces. Her 716 assists is the new program record for assists in a season, topping the previous record of 480.
This is the third time in the program's four full seasons that student-athletes have been named to the All-Conference team and this is the first-time in program history that more than one student-athlete was named. Previous All-Conference members include Cynthia Huerta in 2019 and current Head Volleyball Coach Nati Manalo in 2018.
