Women’s Basketball Falls in Season Opener

Albany, NY- Fisher College's women's basketball team (0-1) fell to Albany College of Pharmacy (1-0) in their season opener Sunday afternoon with a score of 94-61.

The Falcons started the game off strong with a 10-2 lead when Murphy Carroll (Methuen, MA) netted two free throws to give the team the eight point lead.  Shakieya Roland-Drake (Boston, MA) increased the lead in the seventh minute with a good jump shot to bring the score 12-4.

Albany College of Pharmacy took the lead on their home court with just under nine minutes left in the first half.  Allie Mitchell made a three-point jump shot to increase their lead to 21-15.  The Panthers maintained their lead heading into half-time with a 48-22 lead over the Falcons. 

The Panthers continued to increase their lead in the second half, finalizing the score at 94-61.  Four Albany players scored in the double digits, with the highest at 24 points.  Two players scored 13 points in their win over the Falcons.

Fisher was led by Murphy Carroll with 24 points in the defeat.  Christine Briggs (Rumford, ME) recorded the first double-double of the season with 12 points and 15 rebounds.  Alexis Akridge (Union, NJ) also scored 12 points in the loss.

The Falcons have some time off before heading back on the road to Gordon College on Tuesday November 18, with tip-off being at 6:00 pm.
