Boston, MA -- Junior Deanna Morency and freshman Emily Smith have earned 2nd Team all Association of Independent Institutions honors. The announced came this morning from the commissioners office.
Morency, a three year starter and captain of the Lady Falcons anchored a defensive line that showed vast improvement from the 2011 season. The Lady Falcons managed to cut their goals against nearly in half (66 down from 125) while earning the program's first shut out in nearly three seasons.
This is Deanna's second consecutive 2nd team appearance after earning similar honors last year while Fisher competed in the American Mideast Conference. Morency was one of seven defenders named to the 2nd team despite playing most of last season in goal for the Lady Falcons.
Emily Smith capped off her freshman campaign by becoming only the 2nd Lady Falcon in history to earn conference honors in their first season. Smith, a native of Oxford, New York scored the game winning goal in Fisher's 1-0 win over Pine Manor College in September 9, 2012. The goal propelled the Lady Falcon's to their first win in three seasons. Smith went on to double her season total in goals after netting the first goal in a loss to U.Maine - Presque Isle in late September.
Emily was second on the Lady Falcons in shots with 16 and shots on goal with 11. She lead the Lady Falcons with a .687% shot accuracy.
Fisher finished the 2012 season with a 1-11 record and finished 6th in the A.I.I.
