Falcons Selected to A.I.I Conference Baseball Championships

Victoria, TX -- The field for the 2013 Association of Independent Institutions Conference Baseball Championships was released today.

Qualifying for the championships are the University of Houston-Victoria, California State University-San Marcos, Fisher College, Ashford University and LSU-Alexandria.

The tournament is scheduled for May 1-3 at historic Riverside Stadium and will be hosted by the UHV Jaguars.

The winner of the tournament will earn an automatic berth to the NAIA Nationals Opening Round Tournament on May 10-14 at sites still to be determined. The Avista-NAIA World Series will be held May 24-31 in Lewiston, Idaho and will be hosted by Lewis-Clark State College.

CSUSM is currently 22-6 on the year and ranked No. 11 in the nation, while LSU-Alexandria is 28-13, Fisher College 18-12, Ashford 15-10 and UH-Victoria 11-7.

The seedings for the tournament will be announced the week before the tournament. The Falcons currently sit third in the standings.

This will mark Fisher's tenth consecutive postseason appearance. Last season the Falcons were knocked out in the 2nd round of the Independent/Unaffiliated Tournament in Hickory, North Carolina.

With a record of 18-12 so far on the season, the Falcons are just 12 wins away of surpassing 300 wins in history. Head Coach Scott Dulin, who has been at the helm since the program's inception has 293 career wins and 288 since arriving at Fisher College.

The Falcons will look to improve on the eight game win streak this weekend then the host the University of Maine – Presque Isle Owls in a four game series. The series will begin with a 3PM doubleheader of Saturday April 6th and conclude with a 12PM doubleheader on Sunday April 7th.
