BOSTON -- Melanie Appleman has been named the Head Women's Volleyball Coach on July 13, 2017 for the inagural season of the program at Fisher College.
Previously Appleman had been Head Women's Volleyball coach at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, where 90% of the student body was male. She led a Female Diversity Pilot Program in order to improve the goals of the Academy's Five Year Strategic Plan, and managed to increase the number of female athlete inquires, and the Volleyball prospects by 800 percent.
Appleman received recognition for her coaching skills in 2015 from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Conference Association as Sportsmanship Coach of the Year, and the following year received her Increased Mastery and Professional Application of Coaching Theory Certification.
"We are excited to be bringing Melanie onto our Athletics staff" Catherine Courtney, Interim Director of Athletics and Head Athletic Trainer said, "Her energy, experience and passion for the game will guide the new Fisher volleyball program to great success. We cannot wait to get the program started and Melanie is the perfect person to lead us through the inaugural volleyball season here at Fisher College."
Coach Appleman received a Bachelor's Degree in Strategic Communication and Nutrition from Bridgewater State University in May 2014, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
