Women's Soccer Drops Season Finale to Daemen College, Morency Sets Saves Record

AMHERST, NY - It was a celebratory Senior Day for the Daemen Wildcats this afternoon as their five seniors accounted for all nine goals in Daemen's 9-0 shutout of the visiting Fisher Falcons, wrapping up the program's first-ever American Mideast Conference Regular Season Championship.  The Wildcats finish the regular season at 15-3 overall and 11-1 in conference play, one game better than #17 Houghton who finished their conference schedule at 10-2.

The Wildcats got two goals each from seniors Kelsi Maciejewski, Jenelle Masi, Jessica Brand and Alica Vasiloff. Senior midfielder Lindsay Miller also reached the back of the net and added two assists to her conference-leading total in that category.

The seniors figured mostly in the assist column as well with Masi (4), Vasiloff (3) and Maciejewski (2) adding multiple assists while Brand was credited with one as well.  Freshmen Meghan Diehl and Taylor Miller picked up the first assists of their careers as well.

The Wildcats launched an astounding 75 total shots at the Fisher goal, giving them the high-water mark for the entire NAIA this season in a single game.  They placed 37 shots on goal, just three behind the national season-high.  Fisher was unable to register a shot in the game.

Falcons senior goalkeeper Amanda Davis was able to stop 28 shots on the afternoon. The 28 shots raised her season total to 133.  The 133 saves would have tied the school record for saves in a season any other year; however a new mark was set earlier in the season. Sophomore Deanna Morency set the new standard with 140 saves on the season but was unable to complete the season in goal due to injury.
