Falcons Drop Season Opener to AMC Rival Daemen College

Boston, MA - The Fisher Falcons women's soccer team lost their opening game of the season this afternoon to Daemen College by a score of 8-0.  Daemen College used a spread out attack to pick apart the Falcons as seven different Wildcats found the back of the net.

Daemen jumped out to an early lead on the Falcons scoring within the first minute of the game. The Wildcats were led by Jenelle Masi, as the senior forwards tallied two goals on the day. It was the first half that hurt the Falcons as Daemen College scored eight times on 19 shots.  Even with the first half deficit, first year Head Coach Bill Maddock was pleased with the effort of his players.

"Although the result isn't what we wanted, it was good to get the season started," said Coach Maddock. "The girls played hard all 90 minutes and that is all you can ask for. We have things to improve on and hopefully we can make an adjustment in time for Monday's game."

Sophomore Deanna Morency (Auburn, ME/ Edward Little HS) gave a valiant effort in goal for the Falcons, recording 7 saves.

With the loss Fisher College falls to 0 – 1 on the season while Daemen College improves to 4 – 1. The Falcons will return to action Monday when they travel to Pittsburgh, PA to take on American Mideast Conference foe Carlow University. Kick off is scheduled for 7pm.
