Missed Opportunities Prove Costly, Falcons fall to UMPI, 5-2.

The University of Maine- Presque Isle completed the season sweep of the Fisher Falcons as the Owls knocked off the Falcons, 5-2, in Fisher's final home game of the 2011 season.

UMPI midfielder Aaron Hutchins was the offensive star, scoring two goals and assisting on two others for the Owls. Also getting in on the scoring for the Owls were Kyle Corrigan (So./Caribou, ME), Brandon Caverhill (Fr./Caribou, ME), and Jeremy Tarr (So./Ashland, ME).

The Falcons only trailed 2-0 at half despite playing the entire contest with 9 players.  The Falcons were never noticeably overmatched by the Owls and should have gone into half down one after Falcons midfielder Ray Kadzashie (Accra/ Ghana/Mesa CC) missed a wonderful opportunity.

In the second half the Falcons should have got one back after Mamadou Bah (Lynn, MA/ Lynn Classical) missed an easy rebound opportunity on a Kadzashie free kick. Minutes later Bah missed another great chance as he put his shot just wide of the post.

The Falcons were able to get on the scoreboard when Kadzashie broke through on the left side and beat the Owls goal keeper to the far post. The Falcons recorded their second goal when Bah poked home a loose ball just inside the six yard box.

With the loss the Falcons fall to 0-12 on the season. They return to action Sunday, November 23 at 3pm when they travel to Newbury College for a non-conference match up. This is the make-up date from a previously postponed contest between the Falcons and the Nighthawks. The contest also marks the return to Newbury for Head Coach Bill Maddock, as he was a member of the Nighthawks soccer team from 2006-2009.
