Fisher cruise past UMPI, 66-49

The Fisher men returned to winning ways Sunday afternoon with a 66-49 victory over the University of Maine- Presque Isle Owls. The Falcons opened up a 15 point first half lead and were able to close out the former Sunrise Conference foe in convincing fashion.

Paced by senior Dennis Norford who continued his record setting season, the Falcons were able to out-rebound the Owls 42-35.  Norford, who recently set the school record for rebounds, is second in the nation, averaging 12.20 rebounds a game.  In this victory over UMPI, Norford grabbed 16 boards to go along with 17 points.

Matching Norford's game high in points was freshman Alan Womack.  Womack had a career high 17 points on 7-14 shooting. He also added six rebounds, four assists, and two steals.   Freshman Sam Nwadike was a spark off the bench for the host, tallying 12 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals in just 22 minutes of play.

The visiting Owls got a team high 11 points from Aaron Hutchins.  Michael Warner also had a solid night, going 4-8 from the floor for eight points and eight rebounds.

The Falcons were able to win the turnover battle which led to their sixth win in seven games.  The Falcons committed just 14 turnovers to UMPI's 17.

Fisher returns to action Thursday when they travel to Rochester, NY to take on AMC rival Roberts Wesleyan.  This is a huge game for the Falcons as they look to put pressure on the rest of the conference and earn a playoff bid.  Game time is scheduled for Thursday night at 8 pm.
